very nice project.

The toroid is what is causing the ringing, so to get the power with a ferric core you get the ringing. Try an air core for no noise.

as sekudær coil, I have developed a litzwire thread consisting of 10 x 3 meters copper wire, I reached 95 turns around the ferit core 95 x 10 = 950 rounds. I have no primary yet. well done. the gills to use and get back again.
