An uncut interview from the BBC television documentary "The Root of All Evil?".
Bishop Harries and Richard Dawkins have collaborated on several occasions to promote the proper teaching of science in UK classrooms. This is the full unedited interview, which was originally filmed by IWC for the Channel Four documentary 'Root or All Evil?'

and as for the decay of Christian values that started with the Bible alone. Have you ever read that thing cover to cover? or even just the book Leviticus or Job or Deuteronomy. Or even the story of Abraham or even the book of Mathew or Judges. Theres some pretty immoral things in all of those and some are just completely immoral, including stoning your children or how much you can beat your slaves.
2) Once these new elements you might call them fused and started to connect to each other again a new more complicated one and ones that were ever so slightly incompatible with the rest eventually died out. This process continued for probably millions of years until we had a complex system of new "elements" (theres a more proper name than elements that I do not know) and this new thing is now the foundation of life our DNA that is shared by all living things on this planet.
Science does know how life started and how physics really work... I don't know for certain how it all works because I don't study it, but I know for fact that science does know. What I do know is at the start of this planet when the atmosphere was filled with tons of different elements, before it cleared up, eventually over time some of them began to fuse as they do in nature. such as H20, hydrogen and oxygen fuse to make water. Once there were several groups of this fusion they started to fuse
They know theres so much we don't know if Dawkins thought we didn't have anything left to discover he wouldn't be a Scientist of anytype. The whole point of science is to find out what we do not know.
I think Dawkins believes in god. Actually I believe he believes in many gods. This is because of the superiority complex he and many other "new atheists" have created. They profoundly speak out about how much they know, how much they can do. It is as if they have forgotten how much we don't know.
Like how we can't explain consciousness, or how life started, or where matter comes from, or how physics really works, or .......... It goes on and on. I question if any real atheist believes in the falsehood of religion at all.As for the Anglican, typical. He's not entirely wrong about biblical interpretation, but the decay of Christian values started with Anglicans.
Most people are.
this conversation gives me hope for religious coexistence
Those Christian preachers and pastors, do not truly believe in God. If they truly believed, they would not speak so openly and carelessly. When I truly believed in God, I was afraid to speak about it, because I knew that with my foolish tongue, doom would fall on me. I don't believe in God any more, because doom did not fall on them.
You're very welcome!
Thanks for the info will check it out.
Agreed!
You might like others, such as John Shelby Spong (author of Why Christianity Must Change or Die, A New Christianity for a New World, and many other books), Michael Dowd (author of Thank God for Evolution), and there are others. Spong is an especially wonderful writer on biblical studies, Liberating the Gospels: Reading the Bible Through Jewish Eyes is a great book on Michael Goulder's hypothesis on the gospels being written for liturgical purposes.
He would have been Jewish
Hooray for liberal intelligent people.
Agreed...intelligence really eradicates the annoying aspects of evangelicalism.
According to a study in the American Journal of American Psychiatry atheists have a substantial higher rate of suicide than people that have some type of religious affiliation
he is recognizing that ever for a believer, he CANT be sure... i wish that all religious ppl where at least that honest
I never said I can't understand how somebody can believe scripture and evolution. What I said to that commenter was "if your idea of intellectual honesty is believing in scripture and evolution, then you are a fool." The bible believing Theist has problems whether he chooses evolution, or creation. If you want to call problems like that a "headache" then you should see the headaches with either option, and if you can't then.. well, as I said(re your brain)!
So you cant understand why someone believes in Scripture and evolution simultaneously? Why not? The previous pope does along with many theists. Only creationists deny evolution. And stop with the small brain stuff please, its pretty pathetic.
